Re: Ubuntu 13.04 Gnome3 works, but Unity does not

It did help someone! I am in the same exact situation, and loging in the guest session, then shifting to mine, allowed me to go back to my normal desktop. Once "on", going back to guest session to...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Install on 2x 500GB and 1 invisible 1 TB HD: no boot with Grub

Fake raid it is. I just tried the alternate CD as suggested. It looked good. It asked me to provide a missing .bin file, that I hoped was the problem before. But after install, at first boot, same...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Install on 2x 500GB and 1 invisible 1 TB HD: no boot with Grub

I tried all links indicated (at least, the live ones), to no avail. What is most surprising to me is that this problem does not appear to be common, according to my googling on the subject.
    One more...

    Hi there,

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a computer with 2 500GB HD. Did a clean install, erasing everything. It apparently went fine. Then, no way to boot: "no system found". I used Boot Repair to...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Missing buttons with Firefox 3.5.5 in Ubuntu

The post is a bit old, but I do have the same exact problem: no "Limit", "Advanced Search" nor "Help" links visible above the search field (Firefox 3.16.13, Ubuntu 10.10). Adblock on or off does not...

[ubuntu] Re: 10.04 Lucid Touchpad only enabled at login

The command indicated in an earlier post in this thread fixed it for me:

gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true
If not done, could you mark...

[ubuntu] Re: upgrade won't boot [GRUB] problem

I had the same problem, and fixed it by changing the order of my HDs at boot time, directly in the BIOS (press DEL at boot, on my PC. It may be different on yours).
    Hope this helps!

[ubuntu] Re: 10.04 Reboots on GRUB

    Did you check this?
    http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/bootinfoscript/index.php?title=Boot_Problems:Wubi_9.10
That seems to be the solution you are looking for.
    Good luck!
  10. [ubuntu] Re: Two drives, two Ubuntu installs. How to remove one?

Sorry for the confusion. Here we go:

    Disk /dev/sda: 750.2 GB, 750156374016 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 91201 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

  11. [ubuntu] Re: Two drives, two Ubuntu installs. How to remove one?

Great! That sounds simple enough indeed.
But just to make sure I won't bury myself deeper: the "old" partition I want to remove is actually the newest one, from the second install of Ubuntu that...
  12. [ubuntu] Two drives, two Ubuntu installs. How to remove one?

    Description of the situation:

I have a recent Dell PC with two HD.
One with Windows Vista (it came that way)
One with Ubuntu (I installed it, and it worked fine: that is the one I use)

    I got...
  13. [ubuntu] Folders appear empty in Nautilus while not empty

To avoid confusion, what I describe here has nothing to do with "." hidden files. I am referring to plain, visible sub-folders.
For unknown reasons, I regularly "see" my folders in...
