Yep, I have tried the amd64 package on lucid and like you wrote, it did not work. That's not that bad for me, since the only lucid maschine is the netbook of my wife and I can upgrade it to maverick...

Having installed samsungmfp-netdiscovery-oldlibc works everything fine. The package
samsungmfp-eglibc has been installed automatically.
