    Re: Commandline Trash Utility

One problem I've found with the trash-cli package is that it fails on files in a mounted filesystem whose mount point is not writable by me, since it tries to put trashed files into a subdirectory of...
  2. [kubuntu] Re: Last night's updates seems to have broken Intrepid

Things seem to be better for me since I disabled paravirtualization in my virtual machine, so probably I'm experiencing a different problem.
  3. [kubuntu] Re: Last night's updates seems to have broken Intrepid

I don't know if it's related, but I upgraded Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 yesterday on a virtual machine running under VMware Fusion on a Mac OS X host OS, and ever since the upgrade I've been getting regular...

    Re: Commandline Trash Utility

Thanks for the update! I've downloaded the new version, and it no longer displays those warnings. I'll let you know if I see that error again.

It might be useful (although perhaps only for a...

    Re: Commandline Trash Utility

Over time, I've noticed two problems with the utility.

First, it displays several warnings when I trash something in another directory (although the command succeeds):

    myk@myk:~$ mkdir foo...

    Re: Commandline Trash Utility

Someone should package this up and add it to Ubuntu's packages repository.
  7. [ubuntu] Re: kernel 2.6.24-21 compiled with gcc 4.2.3, but latest stable gcc is 4.2.4

I decided to try compiling the tools anyway, and so far so good. It's been about a week, and I haven't noticed additional instability. gnome-terminal crashed a few times after the change, but it...

Note: Chatzilla 0.9.84 is now available (from the Chatzilla on XULRunner web site), and its files all have the correct permissions, so there's no need to fix them.

[ubuntu] Re: Chatzilla with XULRunner - sudo

Note: for the Chatzilla 0.9.83 package available from http://chatzilla.rdmsoft.com/xulrunner/, the specific files with incorrect permissions are the following (inside the /usr/lib/chatzilla...
  11. Re: How to: install Chatzilla as a stand alone program

It's not a good idea to randomly "make everything readable and executable." It's better to fix the specific permissions that are wrong so that they are correct.

    For the Chatzilla 0.9.83 package...
  12. [ubuntu] kernel 2.6.24-21 compiled with gcc 4.2.3, but latest stable gcc is 4.2.4

I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 with all recommended updates.

I recently applied the kernel update from 2.6.24-19 to 2.6.24-21, but when I try to reinstall VMware tools (I'm running Ubuntu in a VM on...

    [ubuntu] Re: updatedb errors

Note: I reinstalled VMWare tools after fixing the problem, and the problem then reappeared, because vmware-config-tools.pl overwrote /etc/updatedb.conf with...

    [ubuntu] Re: updatedb errors

This problem is caused by the mlocate package not installing its /etc/updatedb.conf file. Instead, it leaves the previous implementation of locate's /etc/updatedb.conf file in place, but it doesn't...

    Re: Commandline Trash Utility

Thanks, this is just what I was looking for! In 7.10 I used to just |mv <files> ~/.Trash|, but in 8.04 it's more complicated, and it seems better to use a tool that understands GNOME's new trash...
