Hi... sorry for taking so long to reply, but I got quite busy and now have a little time to work on this thing. I think I discovered the problem.
Bad GPU card. I noticed it tended to freeze when...
I ran the memtest86 for 5 hours, with 3 or 4 passes, and there were no errors. I took one RAM module out, and it still froze. I took out the other one, and the same thing happened. I'm quite sure...
I suspect it's not a RAM problem. I booted into Windows, to play Hitman, and I loaded the game and it quickly locked up. I took out one RAM module, and the same thing happened. I took the other...
@BikeHelmet:
I ran the memtest and my RAM came through fine. The HD bad sector theory seems to make sense, but do you know about a good program that could check my HD for me?
@Sudokodo:
Thank...
Well, I checked the ISO, and the MD5 hash is just fine.
And I don't think the installation itself caused the problem since I just started having these last week. I think some update may have...
Hey folks!! I installed Ubuntu Lucid on my computer a few weeks ago (fresh install, formatted). I'm very happy with the speed, etc. But recently I've been having some problems.
This is about the...
I checked there... Hardware Drivers only has the video card drivers in it.... I don't know.
I changed the PS/2 mouse from another computer that uses Windows and gave it the COM mouse (it works...
My sister's abuse of this poor thing ruined the normal PS/2 mouse I was using. This has forced me to pull out one of my old COM mouse. However, I haven't been able to get Ubuntu to recognize it. I...
Hmm... well, I checked today... and it opened. That is very strange, and I guess I'll never know what happened really...
Bump. Anyone? :(
OK folks.... I've been struggling all afternoon... trying to get this printer to work. I'd like to post all the pages I've consulted but I've lost track of all of them.... :P
Anyway, I finally...
You know what? hehe It's already disabled.... could this be the problem?
Bump........ hehe Any ideas anyone??
Hmm. I don't think it's the DNS. To be a little more specific, this is a browser only problem. When a paste a bunch of links to the JDownloader for instance, the downloads go normally. However,...
Not that I know of. I don't remember installing any website blocking program. And a virus? :S In Ubuntu?
Hello everybody :)
I started having this problem just a couple days ago. I can't open Megaupload in ANY browser (it basically says Page Not Found or equivalent in the browser), but when I get a...
Well, like I said before 1 GB of swap is PLENTY. I've never filled up my 2.5 gigs with several things running (VMs, browser, music, downloads etc.)
Those 8 gigs of swap are just sitting there.....
6 GB of swap!!!! Wow... that's a lot. I've always felt that 1 GB of swap is more than enough. I've got 2.5 GB of RAM and 1 GB of swap and I NEVER use the swap (I don't fill up the RAM).
One...
I looked on the forum for something about this, but I only found an unanswered thread.
I've been trying to get this webcam to work, but I can't even get it to turn on. It has a little red light...
When I want to shutdown, or restart, Ubuntu tells me that an unknown program is working in the background.

This is becoming a nuisance...
Install GParted, which will install the Partition Editor. You can format pendrives with that (it's what I use).
This answer was the one that did it (I tried this first and it worked, I didn't get around to try the other one, although I will to see what features it has). I knew that Ubuntu was installed on...
Thanks for your idea! I tried it and unfortunately it didn't work :'(
Any other ideas? ;)
Hey everyone. I recently tried to install a splashimage to the grub. I put the image in the /boot/grub/images folder, and told it to load that splashimage (the nightship one). I also put sudo...
