    What kernel version do You have? (uname -a)
    I think You should install 2.6.40 kernel (there are repositories with this kernel).
    Also check if You have latest BIOS version for your laptop.

    Try:
    nvidia-xconfig, and if

    dmesg | grep nvidia
    doesn't show:

    It seems You're using the nvidia card with the nouveau driver already, so try:

    rmmod nouveau
    and then:

    modprobe nvidia-current

    if that doesn't help show me Your:

    Do it in terminal:
    sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get -y install nvidia-current

    For L502X You have to call \_SB.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP ON/OFF method.
