Ok I have ntfs-3g installed and I am converstant with its command line.......but here I dont see any sda or sdb against the disk. Other usb drives with ntfs mount on plugging instantly....

if u have backed up everything may be you should go in for a reinstall with acpi turned off at the bios settings.

Pls post your BIOS settings...may be you should try with acpi turned off...

Inspite of reinstalling the modules if you are unable to mount then...as I see it you seem to be heading for a re-install. back up your stuff and do a clean reinstall after checking the cd/dvd...

I bought a viewsonic lcd display and a gforce 5200 recently...I have been able to upgrade display settings to 1440X900 by editing my Xorg.conf and restarting...

Well....I have done all that and just to be sure I tried running a streaming server ....that works well...so my guess is that it has got to do with the settings/conf files..
