    Re: Graphics Unknown

Thanks for the ideas. So far none worked. I tried to modify the gdm script as shown on the page, but I cannot find the scripts on my system. I do still get this error message when booting:

    Re: Graphics Unknown

It still boots with this xorg.conf, but it did not fix the problem. I put it in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d. Is this the right location?

    Thanks,

    Re: Graphics Unknown

OK, I moved the Xorg.conf file I created and it boots fine now and functions as before.

Here is the contents of the Xorg.conf I created:

    Re: Graphics Unknown

I created the xorg.conf screen and put it in the xorg.confd directory, but I think I messed it up. Now it seems to boot, but after the Ubuntu logo, I just get a blank screen.

    then

    Re: Graphics Unknown

It is not a laptop. It is actually an Intel development motherboard. I have it connected to a 22" monitor that can do 1680x1050. Any thoughts on how to get it to pick up the correct settings?

    Re: Graphics Unknown

I am running on an Intel Atom D510 with integrated graphics. I get the graphics unknown error and can only select 1024X768 or 800X600. Any ideas on how to get the correct driver to load?

    [ubuntu] Re: Update Video Driver

No, the -21 kernel will not boot. I updated to the -22 kernel, but it is also a no go. Is it possible that something became corrupt in the upgrade to -21 and that is now a problem for subsequent...

    [ubuntu] Update Video Driver

When the update with kernel -21 came out, my video driver would not work and I could not boot. I could select the old -19 kernel in grub and still boot. Now that the xorg-video-intel version...

I currently have the 2:2.9.9.1-3Ubuntu4 version installed. I do not seem to know how to get the old version out of cache. I can boot in the -19 kernel, but I cannot enable any desktop effects. How do...
  14. Re: How is suspend and hibernate working for you?

Unfortunately, the update did not go so well. I cannot get -21 to boot at all. I can still boot into -19, but my graphics are now limited to no effects. Previously, it was working on any setting. Any...

  17. Re: How is suspend and hibernate working for you?

Any experience with the latest kernels? I have -19 working well and I am reluctant to upgrade. I was hoping to benefit from you testing.
  18. Re: How is suspend and hibernate working for you?

Suspend and resume are working great with kernel 2.6.32-19, I am afraid to move from this kernel. Does anyone have any experience with newer kernels?
  19. Re: How is suspend and hibernate working for you?

It works for me now as well. I plan to stay with this kernel until I hear that a newer one is working.
  20. Re: How is suspend and hibernate working for you?

I am already on kernel 2.6.32-17 and it does not work. Is there an easy way to go back? How do you lock to a particular kernel?
  21. Re: How is suspend and hibernate working for you?

Were you ever able to get your R51 to suspend with Ubuntu?

I was considering that. I will try it and see if it works.
