I thought I'd drawn a mental blank!? In the terminal, I typical rename folders using the mv commend eg; "$mv ExamRevision/ examRevision"

I should also mention that I don't have to start vlc 1.1.1 now with any special commands, those remote functions seem to always be functional.

I had this error message after changing the directory in admin -> settings -> path. Fixed by $chmod -R 777 /"PATH"/
