I use this running from irexec with lirc so I can turn the monitor off by remote.

I was wondering perhaps if there was a way to edit the script so that it running it...

I should also mention that I don't have to start vlc 1.1.1 now with any special commands, those remote functions seem to always be functional.

Me too. If I want to learn to cover a song that was recorded in a slightly different tuning it's much easier than tuning down or pulling out another guitar. I had to look around for an audio player...

I had this error message after changing the directory in admin -> settings -> path. Fixed by $chmod -R 777 /"PATH"/
