As an update, I ran e2fsck and nothing changed (no issues were found with the partition, either).
There is no corruption on sda3 that I am aware of? the /home has no issues, only Desktop did. Home has been mounting properly.
I can run e2fsck tonight but even if the old Desktop was corrupted, now...

Sorry should have mentioned it. Running 18.04.4 LTS.
Hello,
I ran into this exact issue this morning: https://askubuntu.com/questions/182917/desktop-folder-and-files-disappeared, meaning that my home directory was shown on my Desktop and (I presume)...
Sorry, not for me. Still opening a terminal whenever I want to copy/rename/move a file, which is extremely annoying. Anyone has filled a bug about this yet? if not I'll do it...
Doesn't it make more sense to keep both our issues together since it seems to be the exact same one? kngharv, if you start a new thread, please post it here so that I can subscribe to it.
It does...
Bumping this thread just in case someone has more information since November. I still have this issue, which is incredibly annoying as most of my files are on NFS share and that makes nautilus/thunar...
Just saw your post; unfortunately I didn't find it when I posted the same issue yesterday. See https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2376235&p=13705851.
I didn't really understand your point...
Works with no problem, which is why I'm so puzzled, it doesn't look like a permission issue.
Note that from nautilus I can copy, but not paste (pasting locally is fine, not to a NFS share)....
Thanks! I should have thought of this one :) however, no error. See attached screenshot. No error either when I drag a file to a folder attempting to move it.

Hello,
I have a weird issue on a computer running Ubuntu, and one Xubuntu, both 17.10. Another computer, running 16.04.3, does not have this issue.
On the 17.10 computers, I cannot cut, move or...

Hello,
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, in which case I haven't found it.
I am running a VNC server on a remote Xubuntu machine, and want to run a couple of them on my login (for...
This totally solved the problem (that I still had) for me. Thanks a bunch!!!
Awesome, I'm glad you got it to work!
Did you manage to install a truetype helvetica? that's the one I was after... Thanks!
I actually ended up asking the Matlab support - they were very good about it (I didn't actually believe they could solve that but they did!). Basically there was no truetype fonts in my path for...
Hello,
I know that lots of people have posted about the problem with font sizes in matlab and how to solve it by installing xfonts-100dpi and xfonts-75dpi (e.g. this thread). Which worked for me. ...
Nevermind. I hadn't installed matlab in a while and when I saw an "install" file thought I had to run it.
In my case, I just need to run bin/matlab and it works, no need for that install file...
Hello,
Same problem as SAAlqallaf with the same error. Anybody found the solution? Both sudo and gksudo give the same error unfortunately...
Thanks!
OK now I feel pretty silly because it just got working again, and I have no idea how. The only thing that I changed in the last hour is starting Ubuntu One (where my configuration files are) but I...
It is the same problem as uusrs, who started this thread. And probably same as quirino77 as well. In particular his

I'm not sure this is the same problem? Both seem to be linked to autofs not starting (I was not aware that autofs was linked to login issues BTW? since autofs needs to be installed manually, it...
I'm having the same problem, and it really is an issue for me. Anybody figured out what was wrong and how to solve it?
Thanks!!
(I'll add that it did work on 12.04 as configured with successive...
