You could try the Google Chrome Beta for Linux which will probably run faster than firefox. See: http://www.google.com/chrome
I consider your replies both impolite and rude.
I am only suggesting a little message informing the user about the software the forums use. But no, that isn't OK because then people would be put...
"There are much bigger battles in the world"??
Ubuntu has an option to install "Free Software Only" yet users who come to this site are involuntarily using non-free software.
All I'm suggesting...
Really? Just a little warning/message? What harm can it do? :)
Seeing as my previous thread was closed, I thought I'd try and explain what I meant better here.
Seeing as these forums are for a community of open source users, I think there should be a warning...
I decided to check what software Ubuntu Forums uses to run it's forums. At the bottom, it says that it uses vBulletin, which is proprietary/commercial forum software. Why doesn't Ubuntu Forums run...
I would say 10.04 is your best bet. Beta1 is being released today so there should be less bugs. Maybe give that a go? :)

Well, 'Free Software' can be about money, marketing, branding, etc.
Open Source != Free of Charge. Most distros just choose to be free of charge. However, some don't. E.g.: SUSE Linux, RHEL, etc.
The only OS I use is GNU/Linux (a variety of distributions).
My sister, who is 11, also uses GNU/Linux as her only OS. She uses Fedora LXDE on her netbook. May switch her over to Lubuntu when...
I'm kind-of disappointed that Linus is against distributions like Gentoo and Arch. But I can see his point. However, in my experience, only -new- GNU/Linux users (e.g. former Windows users) fear the...
