  2. [ubuntu] VMware Workstation 10 - upgrading Ubuntu (guest) v13.04 to v13.10 fails

    Setup:

Host: Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit with VMware Workstation 10 (WKS)
    Guest: Ubuntu 13.04

Every so often I'd upgrade VMware Workstation and then would upgrade the guest Ubuntu install...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Problems with Ubuntu 12.04 joined to Active Directory

I tinkered some more, and as far as I know I've determined the essential files/config options for joining an Ubuntu 12.04 box to an AD domain. I found the biggest problem was the syntax for...
  4. [SOLVED] Re: Problems with Ubuntu 12.04 joined to Active Directory

After a lot of hair pulling I think I've got it mostly figured out. I'm not sure which change is responsible for the working setup, but I ended up tweaking these files:

    /etc/samba/smb.conf
    ...

  6. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading kernel doesn't properly update /boot/grub/menu.lst

That triggered something in my memory, so I looked at the VM configuration and this is what I have:

    215067

However, I looked at my /etc/fstab, and this is what is listed:

  7. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading kernel doesn't properly update /boot/grub/menu.lst

Thanks, but I have a working installation now, it's just when I upgrade kernels the /boot portion of the path is left off when I let it auto-update menu.lst.

I'll post back here with whatever I...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading kernel doesn't properly update /boot/grub/menu.lst

Thanks, I'll look into dpkg-reconfigure grub and see if that helps.

In case you didn't see my other reply, this is a Xen VM that is using pv-grub to boot a kernel inside of the VM, and from what...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: Upgrading kernel doesn't properly update /boot/grub/menu.lst

Good catch. This is a Xen virtual machine that requires me to use the older grub 1 to be compliant with the pv-grub loader (not sure if that's the right word for it).
  10. [ubuntu] Upgrading kernel doesn't properly update /boot/grub/menu.lst

My apologies if this has already been answered, but my Google-Fu isn't turning up much, nor did my searches here.

After every kernel upgrade, I'm given the choice to accept the maintainers copy of...

[ubuntu] Re: download torrents from rss feed

I'll have to give FlexGet a look. The feature list is really impressive.

I wanted to followup on my earlier post about Synclosure and mention that a 0.2 release is out.

[ubuntu] Re: download torrents from rss feed

    Hey guys,

I don't know if unutbu is still maintaining tormon.py or not, but there is a similar python script available: Synclosure.

The project has been around since 2004 and just recently...
  13. [ubuntu] Re: I've installed Redmine but it won't show up properly on browser

I used a different install directory, but here is what I had:

Did you ever figure out the performance problem? I'm looking to migrate from mod_php/apache prefork to the setup you have.

    Thanks.

[SOLVED] Re: Apache 404 error for port 443?

There may be a better way to do this, but I would have inside of that same *.conf file a portion for *:443 like so:

[ubuntu] Re: Apache Access Though VPN

Bummer. I don't see anything that would be blocking their LAN IP in your config file. It doesn't look like I'll be of much help as I'm unfamiliar with how most VPN setups work on the back end.

[ubuntu] Re: Apache Access Though VPN

Can you post the relevant section of your Apache configuration? It sounds like it's already seeing the right IPs, but there is some sort of misconfiguration.
