This is working for me on an N56VJ. I added
synclient AreaBottomEdge=1825
to the end of the script to keep the cursor steady while pressing the mouse buttons.
Also note, two finger scrolling...

Ubuntu 10.04 did a flash upgrade last night and this morning flash would not work for a streaming radio station. Also noticed some (but not all) youtube videos would not play....
Update: Installed the xubuntu-desktop this morning on the 770Z. Top reported 336 megs in use on a cold boot with Gnome, down to 248 megs used with the XFCE desktop. Firefox is significantly faster....

I would like to report a successful install of 10.04 on a 1999 Thinkpad 770Z. Install was from a magazine DVD. I used the Netbook Remix option, it was the only one that would start from the DVD,...
FedEx just handed me a Gen 6 Nano as replacement for my Gen 1 that got recalled. So I am also desperate for Linux support. Will try Itunes with Wine but I don't have much confidence in that...
The given shell script worked for me.. 10.04 on an Asus eee 901 netbook. I mapped the script to the rightmost user key with the system > preferences > keyboard mapping tool.
