I have had a similar problem with cable broadband - the modem will only makea DHCP offer once and needs to be power cycled for each request.

Is this the Western Digital external drive?
If so you use a Windows driver to access it which doesn't work under Linux.
You can access it via FTP, the manual shoudl tell you how.
D2 analogue is working but not digital. This is with ALSA 1.0.17.
Ubuntu + Virgin here, you don't need to install anything on the PC to use it.
Set the network connection to DHCP and plug into the ethernet port on the cable modem.
I have the same problem with a Netgear RP614 router, it seems to have a problem with Firefox. I had to dual boot to Windows to szet it up.
OK, I had internet access fine and connection sharing working with one PC (separate network card for that).
Then I tried to get a second PC sharing and now I've managed to kill internet access on...
The Mybook, if I remember correctly, can only be accessed by FTP from Linux.
That is why I didn't buy one.
The second section is caused by the driver fiels not being built by the first section.
As to the first section, it may be a problem working with 64 bit mode.
My experience is thaat Creative don't supply infromation for the writing of linux drivers to they have to be reverse engineered.
My pesonal choice is the Asus Xonar D2 now that it has full support...

Why not disable the onboard sound?
Which nVida card do you have? You can also go to the nVidia home page and find the driver there.
You can change the display priority in the BIOS so the nVidia is initialised first.
And bring marshmallows :lolflag:
Mythbuntu is very powerful but it is not a trivial exercise to get it all going, especially sound.
