  1. Re: Discussion - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ResizeandDuplicateWubiDisk

Not sure why it wouldn't give you any more disk space... did you make it bigger than the old one?
You don't have to delete the old one.
If you want to delete it, delete it the same way you'd...
  2. Re: Discussion - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ResizeandDuplicateWubiDisk

Grub boots by searching for a file on any partition named /ubuntu/disks/root.disk. It loads the boot menu directly from inside this file (/boot/grub/grub.cfg), and this boot menu also directly refers...

    Re: Ayuda de emergencia

Thats a known bug with Wubi installs in 14.10. If this is the case, uninstall Wubi by going to the Windows control panel, Add/remove programs, double-click on Ubuntu.

  4. [ubuntu] Re: Recovering data for a failed upgrade 12.04 - 14.04

To uninstall Wubi, you can go to Add/Remove programs (in Control Panel) and double click on "Ubuntu". This will completely delete the install.

  6. [ubuntu] Re: Recovering data for a failed upgrade 12.04 - 14.04

I didn't find 14.10 very stable. Graphics seemed off, with phantom window/mouse trails. That could just be my hardware, but I'd recommend you use 14.04.1.

    I assume you're talking about doing a...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Recovering data for a failed upgrade 12.04 - 14.04

If it's a Wubi install, you can just use ext2read from Windows to open the file C:\ubuntu\disks\root.disk and copy whatever you want.

If it's a Wubi install, then upgrading to 14.04 will always...

Re: Ubuntu wont start up/ install after restart

If you have used all four primary partitions, then the installer cannot install a regular dual boot, so it offers to install "inside windows" as in with Wubi. It then copies Wubi to the windows start...
  9. [ubuntu] Re: Wireless problems with ubuntu 12.04 when installed per wubi in Windows 7

This is an old bug with 12.04 Wubi installs. If the wubi.exe you're using is out of date it downloads a bad diskimage (for 13.04) and installs that. Throw it away - you can't fix it.

    Either...

Re: Windows 7, Ubuntu and missing MBR

Glad you figured it out. Those initial testdisk screenshots looked unpromising at first.

If you replace the linux partition with an Extended (primary) partition, you'll have more flexibility - you...

Re: Windows 7, Ubuntu and missing MBR

Windows shouldn't crash - it should know how to handle the dynamic disk. But the whole thing with it 'expanding' /dev/sda4 which wasn't ntfs in the first place might indicate that Windows lost the...

Re: Windows 7, Ubuntu and missing MBR

In the gparted picture, the boot flag is on /dev/sda1, but on the fdisk output it is on /dev/sda4 the 'Linux partition'. For windows to work it has to be on the windows boot partition, the one that...

Re: Windows 7, Ubuntu and missing MBR

Why did you think Windows could create more than 4 primary partitions? Windows just converted your drive to 'dynamic' partitions (type SFS) and this means it stores information about the partitions...

Change your boot entry from "ro" to "rw" (hold down Shift when booting, press E to edit, Ctrl+x to boot).

  18. Re: Discussion - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MigrateWubi

Yes there is an option to migrate from the root.disk (while running a live USB/DVD). Note that the live environment has to be the same architecture (32/64bit) as the Wubi install, and I recommend...

You have to use the 12.04 wubi.exe (12.04.0) for lubuntu. Get it from here: http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04.0/wubi-12.04.exe

Note: if you still have the iso it downloaded ...

    [ubuntu] Re: hibernate problem

Ubuntu uses a swap partition to hibernate. Wubi doesn't create partitions and uses a swap file instead. So you cannot hibernate it.

It is possible to hibernate to a swap file, but I've never...

Re: Can Not Delete Wubi installed Unbuntu 11.04

The folder should be C:\ubuntu which contains most of what you need to remove. Deleting it will free up the space taken by the virtual disk.
I doubt there is any registry entry since you upgraded to...
