Sansa ClipZip 8GB "Stealth" Black works a treat, I've retired my iPod for this little beauty.
I found the best way was to buy a USB Charger from Amazon the typle that you plug into the mains and then plug a USB cable into then just use the lead you get with the Kindle.
Hi,
I have just received my Clip Zip and have been playing with it for a few days now. I use Ubuntu & Debian and therefore copy music, podcasts etc to it using the MSC mode drag and drop but so far...
Have you tried, [Settings], [Settings Manager], [Desktop], icons tab and removed the default icons ?
and another vote for Xubuntu from me, I've moved due to Unity and find it faster and much like Gnome.
I've just bought a kindle 3 wifi version and am reading The Dreaming Void, Book 1 by Peter F Hamilton it's very good as is the Kindle which work well with Ubuntu 11.04 and Calibre.
I had this problem a few das ago on Mint and tried all sorts of fixes but the one that worked was to remove the package completely and install again.
have you tried Camorama, it's in the repos and may just work out of the box, if the only program you have used is cheese then it seems to be bust at the mo.
I've given up on Cheese too I tried all the fixes here and still had no look but camorama works with no problems. using 64 bit xubuntu 11.04

There's only one way to find out, let us know :D
Have a look here http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/libs/libgcc1 you could download and install the deb or just find libgcc1 in sysnaptic and select the reinstall option.
glad you sorted both your problem, hope you enjoy Ubuntu
Welcome to the forum, I must say I agree Unity is not for me either but if you have tried and dislike it then you can select the "classic" session desktop see...

Are you sure you safely unmounted the drive from the windows box? if so can you write a file to the drive when mounted on Ubuntu? if not you may need to correct the permissions on the usb drive. what...
Hi try looking in the Synaptic Package Manager for gnome-ppp
I think that name is far too long for windows [not sure of the limit] to rename in a Terminal
sudo gedit /etc/hosts
and rename [keep it short] and resave
and again for
sudo gedit...
If you hold down the shift key as it boots into ubuntu you should get the recovery options, try the various available options to see if these get you into your desktop. You could then run update...
Q1 If you can use the live CD to get onto the desktop you should be ableto navigate to the installed ubuntu and into your home folder. I would ctrl +H to show the hidden files then remove or rename...

I think the easiest way is to install ubuntu tweak which has the option to change background and icon setting, it's only a google search away :p.
