Keryx will download the dependencies for you.
Keryx works for any deb repository. If playdeb or other sites provide a repository you can add to your sources then it's all fair game! :-)
If you do the step I mentioned about fixing broken packages with Synaptic it will tell you what's broken.
So we still haven't perfected the package dependency calculations for Keryx, but it is a good start (we could use some help if anyone is good in that area!). The dpkg installation method is bad but...
Did you tell Keryx to download the latest package lists?
Make sure you spelled it correctly. If you're offline though because you are connecting using a modem, you'll probably want to have Keryx download and install it instead of using apt-get (since it...
Hehe, yeah I have just spent a lot of time around this issue because I had dialup at home until 2 months ago. :P
Just trying to help clear some of the misconceptions that seem to be spreading...
An internet connection is not always possible. And this is not always a good idea:
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
This can cause packages to break, it used to be our old suggested installation method...
Yeah, but if you're missing dependencies, you'll get broken packages doing that.
The easiest way to do it is using Keryx. You just create a snapshot of your offline machine, then use Keryx to get...
You missed the part that he's on a computer without internet access.
Keryx should be a big help in gathering dependencies for you. :)
If you need any help with it, just shoot me a message. I'm hard at work on the next version which is a HUGE improvement. :D
Just for the record, Keryx works on 10.04 and should be able to do what you want with a nice little GUI. :)
Just watch the blog at http://keryxproject.org/blog and we will post a link to download it there. Thanks for your support! :D
The best way to do it I have come across is to take the packages Keryx downloads, copy them into /var/cache/apt/archives/ and take the lists that Keryx downloads and copy them into...
Using dpkg -i will not install the packages properly. Some packages need to be installed before others and this will not follow the proper order which may cause packages to break.
You can use...
Keryx will work on your office machine. :)
If you installed using "dpkg -i --force" that can break packages. The way Keryx installs it through the interface (You need to run it from source on Ubuntu too if you are having problems still) uses...
Awesome, sorry for the trouble. Maybe I can recruit another developer or two to help me get the next version out sooner! ;)
Ah yep, for Windows I forgot that you also need to install pywin32. Install the one for your version of Python from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/
I usually use Python 2.5 or...
Okay, I haven't been able to reproduce the opcode problem except on a 64bit machine. Either way, our executables need some work, but we are actually just trying to get our next version out the door...
Kilron, there is nothing wrong with your Ubuntu machine. Keryx is still under development (Just me and one other programmer so it's hard trying to keep up!)
The opcode problem comes from trying to...
Good luck! Trying my best, the next version is shaping up pretty well. We are getting close to building the new interface and could use some feedback. If you get the chance, take a look at our ideas...
Just try for closing JDownloader and try it again. I've had that issue happen to me before as well.
No problem, if you run into any problems or have some ideas for improvement let me know. :D
