  1. [SOLVED] Re: backward compatibility moving from 22.10 to 22.04 ok?

    Thanks for help.

I won't try for 22.04 but go for 23.04. Then at a later stage move back to LTS. Even after that it seems better not to migrate on from there to the next LTS until forced.
  2. [SOLVED] backward compatibility moving from 22.10 to 22.04 ok?

I moved onto 22.10 with gnome, not sure why as I usually stay with LTS.

Now the support for 22.10 has stopped. Am happy to do a new install. Is it safe just to backup data, install 22.04 on a new...

  4. [ubuntu] Re: Problem with links on desktop when using gedit and creating backup ( tilde ~ ) fi

Couldn't get emacs to work as you stated, perhaps I have misunderstood something.

Well, I had thought that it was the desktop that was not behaving as I would like but then changed my mind a bit...

  6. [ubuntu] Problem with links on desktop when using gedit and creating backup ( tilde ~ ) files

So first I have a text file and create a link to it from the desktop. This works fine.

If I then use that link to access the file ( let's say xxx.txt ) I end up in gedit with the file as expected....

[ubuntu] Re: Which files added in the past 2 hours?

I think you need to use the terminal for that and the find command.

Open a terminal, Applications->Accessories->terminal under gnome.

    Type in:

    man find

to get the manual, or more...

[SOLVED] Re: unetbootin, failure to boot after creation

No arguing with 3999 > 3869 but the dd was only asked to copy the first partition, and about 1000 < 3869. When source is really bigger than destination it gives an error message.

    Is it...

  16. [SOLVED] Re: Help: Understanding partitions and editing/resizing them
