I've had trouble getting this working in gutsy amd64. To get this working, I did:
...not use the installed firefox. I downloaded one from http://getfirefox.com
Installed the java5 packages

ln -s /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8 /usr/lib/libssl.so
resolves the libncui.so issue
