I have been trying out Mate desktop on Ubuntu 12.04 on a couple computers. I have tried a couple different install instructions, but it has bugs. Often a display daemond dies and then menus look very...
Your right, but I removed the -n on the command I ran
I will try it with the closing slash later. I think I'll get them synced again onsite first.
I finally setup my offsite back for /home on my home computer, but my backup copy has been out of sync for a month. So I did a manual rsync to make sure I get it right before I set it as cron job. I...
While I researching chipsets supported by ath9k I found this page. I found this http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k_htc#Modeswitching_for_AR7010
Ah ha I found the proper way to start...
Awesome, thanks! Turned out VMware ESXi handles VLAN tagging, so it not needed on the Ubuntu server running in ESXi. I needed to put VLAN 51 in also "VM Network", not just the Management Network.

Awesome Thanks. :guitar: Yea!, I'll have to manually install the deb file on a flash drive before I can get network service.
I setting up some servers, but the Network Admin set it up so I have to use VLAN 51. It was easy on my ESXi server I just put in the 51 into the VLAN menu. I can't find what I need to put...
I couldn't make it work, tried several things. I even tried with the rEFIt boot CD. The bootloader would crap out, rEFIt would tell me something like incompatible boot loader.
I settled with a...

I'm going to try to make my project work with a RaspPi, maybe it can optimised enough not to run too slow. The Cubox was going to be $160 with shipping and a Pandaboard with a case is about $200. It...
So you were able to go to a newer Ubuntu? Why not 12.04?
Wow ZFS on Linux? How well is that working?
How can I boot Ubuntu on a USB stick and a Mac I can't modify? So I can't use rEFIt. I tried a USB drive I formated with usb-creator-gtk, I've been testing it with a late 2007 Macbook and it won't...
Like the RaspPi both devices have a few weeks lead time. Does the Pivos run Ubuntu? A bunch of Odroid-Xs are use used by the Raspbian distro leader to recompile Debian packages. It has more ram, but...
A gateway/router, or DNS is not needed just connecting 2 devices by IP address. I've done this several times when configuring routers.
I bought a couple Raspberry Pi and then sold them because it wasn't powerful enough for me. (I made $75 off 2 RaspPis, cha ching) Also RaspPi doesn't run Ubuntu (yet?) No offense to Debian, but I...
Sounds like both routers on the same Ethernet network. Right?
When you add a route it allows you to access the IPs in that network range, and points you to the other router to access its subnet. To...
Are you sure your cable is correctly wired and crimped?
My next trouble shooting step would be to get a third device and test it one at a time with the first 2 devices.
Can you get some more details about your system?
lspci -nnk | grep -iA2 net
sudo iwlist scan
dmesg | egrep...
I'm curious to see why the ath9k module is not loading on the 3.2 kernel. Will you run the following?
sudo modprobe -v ath9k
I have the same chipset and kernel and it works. Maybe ath9k project...
You may get away with desktop drives in a RAID. In my experience I had to wipe, sector scan the "failed" drive and then rebuild too many times. The chances of another failure during rebuild is pretty...
After having several drives fail in a RAID array and then pass a full diagnostic, I researched and found that you need drives with firmware designed for RAIDs. WD Raid edition, WD RED, and Seagate...
Thank you that was very helpful. Though it took some trial and error to work with a bridge, for some reason putting the pre-up under the bridge would make it not add the eth0 interface.
