After trying all your suggestions, I found a thread that indicates that the newer version of Chrome is no longer working in machines with older Pentium 4 processors. (Those without SSE2). Although...
No, that doesn't work either. Seems the command "/usr/bin/google-chrome-stable %U" is not recognized any longer. Did the update move Chrome to a different location? How would I find it it it were?
Thanks CanTankRus,
Followed your suggestion but it didn't help.

After an update today I can no longer open Google Chrome:
I get the following response using the terminal:

I too had the same message and reinstalled. Now I get a slightly different error; here is from install log:

Sorry oldfred, but nobody's trying to hijack anything. This problem started at the same source, a failure to boot after an upgrade. I am just trying to get a little help here.
Sorry ... Not trying to "hijack"! it's started from the same source, failure to boot. Just trying to get some help here!
Having a similar problem. Had difficulty booting so I ran Boot Repair. Now it appears that my Linux drive (SDB) no longer exists! It just shows one . labeled as "unallocated". Before there were four...
Seems to be only on websites that have other ads... (most!) Have not reinstalled. Didn't want to lose my bookmarks, etc.
I have adblock installed. It doesn't stop these ads.
Recently I have been having an awful time using Firefox. I am getting pop up ads and redirects. Even after I close the redicted window I'll get music playing in the background. It's making web...
I ended up using Photorec to recover a lot of files. Some were corrupted, but I'll consider it a lesson learned! The problem I have now is that none of the recovered files have their original names,...
Thanks for your reply. Another question... when assigning mount points to the various drives/partitions, I can't use the same mount point more than once. What if one has four or five hard drives, all...
While performing a fresh install I inadvertently changed an 500 Gb NTSF drive to ext4. I had used that drive when booting into Windows. Now it appears that I have lost the data on this drive. If I...
I've been an Ubuntu user for about 5 years now. I still dual boot to Windows simply because there are a couple of programs that won't run on Linux. I currently run 12.04 on my desktop, and 10.04 on...
OK, I tried Mint and found that to be just as buggy! May as well stay with the devil I know! Now I have 12.04 and that awful Unity Desktop. Where are the control buttons to minimize or close...
Actually I'm now finding many other malfunctions in other apps. This is BS. Why can't an upgrade just work?
I have Googled the problem of mounting USB drives and find it is a common complaint. The...
Actually I'm talking about USB hard drives. See attached screenshot above.
I've never found upgrades to be simple! There is always some issue.
Just upgraded to 12.10.
Cannot mount any USB drives. Desperately need help before I reinstall 11.04.
Can't Ubuntu make it simple?
What does this error mean?
That works! Thanks.
I have been noticing a higher level of CPU activity than normal and I attribute it to Banshee running in the background. I have to "kill" Banshee in order to stop it.
It was only the second time BUDDY.
I don't like the change because after spending a lot of time with Ubuntu I find this new interface clumsy, lacking in style, and generally a throwback, like they...
