in that exact same situation too. used to see more than 2-4 units a month though quite some time ago. actually had my first one to work on in maybe a year a week or so ago.
totally agree. i...
wow! all i can say is for some one who is new to linux, you sure got this figured out relatively quick. i don't know if i could've gotten it done even with the great advice from thefu! i'd still be...
issue has been solved. i installed antix linux and everything is working correctly again. pretty sure it was one of the last couple kernel updates that have messed up my 2, 32bit machines. found a...

had to give up on that test above. doubt if i would've known what to do afterwards anyway considering when setting up the tool, i had to enter some info about mail of which i didn't know what to do!...
sorry took so long to get back. had other issues.
yes, file system is ext 4 and running
sudo smartctl -t long /dev/sda now. 44 minutes to complete.
thank you
will give that a try in a few days and get back with you.
don't know about ext4! using xfce. this is a rather old, single core laptop. will that smartctl even work on it? no, didn't try older kernel as newest one works, just makes it go through boot 2...
i keep getting the error /dev/sda1: recovering journal and then it says clean after that but then computer goes through the boot process a second time after which i get the advanced boot option. i...
at what speed did you burn disc? usually recommended to burn iso's at slower/slowest speed so as not to cause issues. have seen that issue happen before.
yep, simple as that! all done. no boot menu or grub or anything like that showing up. just use 2nd drive as storage.
if need be, just back up stuff on 2nd drive to 1st drive, format second drive...
may i ask why you want to revert back to 16.04? did stuff happen during the upgrade that doesn't work right? that happens 99% of the time when doing an upgrade like that and i don't know why it's...
fwiw, and i know it isn't much, thunderbird has gotten so bloated/slow i can't stand it myself anymore and gave up on it a long time ago now.
i use the nice and light sylpheed mail in linux and...
i'm on a optiplex 755 right now with the same specs as your machine except i have 8mb's ram and a low end nvidia video card. had lubuntu on here for a while then decided to try linux mint and...
this isn't any help, but i had this same error on one of my laptops that at the time was running windows 7 and lubuntu 16.04. forget exactly how far off it made the clock in windows off by, but seems...
i get the same thing as far as 2 network icons just about every other time i start one of my machines that has lubuntu 18.04.1. how did you simply delete the icon as i can find no way to do that? i...
i'd like to know how also as i never thought was possible to begin with :(
i guess i could see the file continuing from where it left off at, if the server actually let's you do that, but always...
imo, ubuntu has always been bloat city, but yes, over the last 10 years there have been mega changes. that's exactly why i use lubuntu though. not nearly the bloat. as far as tweaking it, i can tweak...
totally just taking a stab in the dark here.
computer doesn't by chance have an old AMD Athlon processor, does it? if so, no modern browser will work as that doesn't support sse2. you would have...
thank you, lah-ca
thanks for the 2 posts you made. what browser does that linux distro you mentioned in other post use and does it require sse2 as 2 of my old machines do not support it.
as far as your post here...
always wondered why the numlock never worked properly in ubuntu/lubuntu. works perfectly fine on it's own on my 1 mint machine.
will have to look into that numlockx thing.
thanks
that build does absolutely nothing :(
no pop up error messages or anything.
