    [ubuntu] Re: New User

DE was just my abbreviation for Desktop Environment and it is not part of the "Gnome" name.

When I installed Gnome through the Software Center, I just searched for 'gnome' and found it that way.

If you are using Ubuntu 12.04, you can easily install the Gnome DE by using the Ubuntu Software Center.

  8. [ubuntu] Re: How to install Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

When I was first being introduced to the Linux environment, Wubi is what I used. It is easy, and non-disruptive. Also, if you are used to installing applications on Windows, using Wubi will be a...

[ubuntu] Re: How to access hard drives?

After some quick searching, I did affirm that NTFS is proprietary to Microsoft.

[ubuntu] Re: How to access hard drives?

If I am not mistaken, WInXP formatted their hard drives in a NTFS format. If I remember correctly, Linux is not compatible with NTFS formats. I believe it prefers FAT.
