  1. Re: A good article by Charlie Brooker on Apple

FFS, lighten up. It's just a bit of fun.
  2. Re: A good article by Charlie Brooker on Apple

I guess there are alot of people that aren't famliar with Mr Brookers oeuvre.
  3. Re: A good article by Charlie Brooker on Apple

Well duh :) He's writing to get a reaction. That's how he sells copy and maintains his job. Who the hell would read a columnist that illicts no reaction?

    I love Charlie Brookers rants.

    Re: European commission report

Also, I'm not sure that you "own" a copy of windows anymore, but you lease it, or purchase the right to use it. It's owned by Microsoft, who can withdraw the users use of it at anytime they see fit....

Re: Heavy Metal vs Rock vs Deathcore

Do people really give a toss about what subsubsubgenre something is?

There are two types of music in the world:

Music that makes me go 'HELL YEAH"
    Music that doesn't

    Genre/style -...
  7. Re: Thousands of dead birds and fish in Arkansas

Classic case of media story synchronicity. An incident is reported, for some reason it captures the imgination of a bunch of sub-editors, it gets distributed and reported widely, someone in another...
  8. Re: bib bang theory under attack due to baffling discovery

Theory means "not fact". Most theories are presented as facts, or taken as fact, when in fact, they are not. :)
  9. Re: What woud you pay for Mac hardware running Ubuntu??

The hardware is just the same as any intel based laptop so.... I don't see the point. The reason for buying a mac is so you can use OSX and the apps that it supports. The hardware is irrelevant. So...

  11. Re: LSSU's List of Banished Words for 2011

I'm still on an anti-"literally" drive. I make a point of correcting people in the middle of conversations now.

"You don't need literally there as a qualifier..."
    "No, you mean metaphorically,...

Re: Ubuntu vs. Mac OS X

One day, people will stop confusing "better" and "different".

Re: Linux Needs a GOOD photo management app

Linux is not mature for pro photo use, quite simply. I have never met a top pro use linux for anything photo wise. Bibble and LightZone are great products, but Adobe products are embedded in people's...
  16. Re: How do you see Apple/Mac hardware and software

I beg to differ. My macbook has been back to repair 4 times because of a design fault acknowledged by Apple. Everyone I know that owns one has had the same problem. Pro's are much better built.
  17. Re: How do you see Apple/Mac hardware and software

My entire professional workflow has now switched over to Macs, not because they are in anyway more uber than anything else, but because I've got used to its eccentricities and I can't be bothered to...

In the summer its drunk cold, in the winter its drunk warm. It doesn't have to be served at any specific temperature.
  19. [photography] Re: New software for Linux RAW photo workflow, Darktable

I've had a little play with Darktable and its pretty neat. My only gripe is the export feature - its too cumbersome. I think things would really benefit from a lightroom style rclick > export option...

  24. Re: Finalized a bit of music I have been working on.

    Hi Nightwishfan,

I'm going to be honest - it's not that great. I think you have some very good ideas but it comes across as clumsy and niaeve for the most part. To me, it sounds like something...
  25. Re: mirror mirror on the wall what's the best image editor of them all

    There's also LightZone.

Bibble and LightZone are photo workflow applications, with image editting tools, GIMP is an image editor with no database or workflow capabilities. These applications are...
