    [ubuntu] Re: Border antivirus

i am really just somewhat interested in what untangle does with their products. they are able to offer border-antivirus on some relatively meager hardware. my linux server acts as little more than a...

    [ubuntu] Re: Border antivirus

i am more interested in virus detection and blocking at the border (my linux server). i know i can install snort with an inline addon for clamav to handle virus activity. looking for something...

    [ubuntu] Border antivirus

I am curious because I know some Debian-based commercial products like Untangle offer border-based antivirus protection. I would not mind if I only got detection for that matter...

    I am not...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: checking an external hard drive for errors

oh i know how to check a filesystem already. i just wanted to know if there was some way to monitor what was going on behind palimpsest when you tell it to check a filesystem. the little whirly...
  5. [ubuntu] checking an external hard drive for errors

i am currently running palimpsest (system -> administration -> disk utility) and letting it "check" an unmounted filesystem.

  6. [ubuntu] Re: time change not being reflected...maybe im wrong

  7. [ubuntu] Re: time change not being reflected...maybe im wrong

tried it...and nothing happened. it is still incorrect. :(

ive tried disabling the ntp service, and using ntpdate to update the time as well...still an hour off.
  8. [ubuntu] Re: time change not being reflected...maybe im wrong

lol... we will wander clueless for days im sure.

Re: [WoW with wine] OpenGL hw cursor PATCH

that could be my issue then. i have always disabled compiz and run metacity when doing anything with opengl acceleration. will test that out now and edit this post with the results.

    ** EDIT **...

good lord some of the replies in here. lol...

alt-f2 will open the run dialog. more than likely your problem has to do with graphics drivers. CTRL-ALT-BACKSPACE used to restart X and gdm but does...

Re: Mangler - A native ventrilo linux client

so based on this the plan is to get away from opening a stream for every "cued" user and use a single mixed stream for the software? i think that will fix a few issues actually. pulse already burns a...

    [ubuntu] Re: Antivirus for ubuntu

Re: Mangler - A native ventrilo linux client

i have not been disconnected while using this, but i would suggest adding a 20-30 second delay (the ventrilo has a delay if im not mistaken) if there is not already a delay present.

Re: Mangler - A native ventrilo linux client

  22. [ubuntu] Re: permissions for world of warcraft folder keep locking up?

heck running pretty much anything as root is a bad idea period.
  23. [ubuntu] Re: permissions for world of warcraft folder keep locking up?

great idea...i just dont worry too much about security around a single folder that contains a game. thanks for posting this. a lot of people would make the change and never mention it :)
  24. [ubuntu] Re: permissions for world of warcraft folder keep locking up?

which is exactly what my script does, except that you get the ability to check for a patch everytime you run the game as every other user playing the game that runs launcher everytime they play ;)
  25. [ubuntu] Re: permissions for world of warcraft folder keep locking up?

eh i am using a different script than this ... might be of use to some of you. replace my username with your own, if you do not require padsp for better sound in pulseaudio, remove it from the...
