    [ubuntu] Cisco aironet 350 WPA

    Hey all, I've searched all around and havn't found a solution. I have a cisco aironet 350 pcmcia card in my laptop, which works great with the airo kernel driver. Unfortunately, WPA doesn't work....
  2. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    Please read the changes I marked below:

    # abort script and run fallback windowmanager
    abort_with_fallback_wm()
    {
    #THE LINE BELOW###
    return 1;
    #THAT WAS IT###

    if [...
  3. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    There must be either an error with the way you typed the changes or you're editing the same file.

    If the first statement in the function abort_with_fallback_wm() is "return 1;" and it's still...
  4. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    what's the error if you try to run compiz from the command line (without the SKIP_CHECKS part
  5. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    No, change like this

    # abort script and run fallback windowmanager
    abort_with_fallback_wm()
    {
    #THE LINE BELOW###
    return 1;
    #THAT WAS IT###
    if [ "x$SKIP_CHECKS" =...
  6. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    Please just replace your xorg.conf with mine, something is futzed up. I have the exact same laptop as you, so it will work.

    in the /usr/bin/compiz, just replace the first line of...
  7. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    >> I tried the script for getting around the blacklist, but the machine rejected it and installed the default generic xorg.conf in its place.

    I'm confused, it replaced your xorg.conf? That...
  8. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    Use the xorg.conf I posted above. Specifically, change your default depth from 24 to 16.
  9. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    coombesy-

    glad it worked :)
  10. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    No need to be pouty over it. I asked you some questions, you didn't answer them. I neither develop compiz nor the drivers for your video card, so it's hard for me to diagnose anything.
  11. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    What do you mean unstable? Do windows turn black if you make them too large? If so, try making your AGPSize value in xorg.conf larger.
  12. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    Dngrsone-

    /usr/bin/compiz mistakenly blacklists laptops running with the radeon drivers. There's a bugzilla report about it, but it's not been fixed yet. I've attached my modified version that...
  13. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    No, it's not a bios item (unless you have the world's strangest bios).

    Perhaps those aren't the logs you were wanting, or it's pulling setting from another log somewheres. Try putting this (below)...
  14. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    Quickly looking, for some reason, your screen section isn't clicking. In the 'after' log, it's still saying that it's setting a depth of 24bpp, which is incorrect. It's also saying that it didn't...
  15. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    Can you try using the xorg.conf I posted, restarting your X server then sending me your Xorg.log? you might have to go to one of the consoles to copy /var/log/Xorg.0.log to a different place since...
  16. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    coombesy-

    I'd try two things:

    Firstly, you need to change your color depth in the Screen section. That non-enough-memory for DRI error is because at your current color depth and resolution,...
  17. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    Most importantly, you need to drop down the color depth or resolution (to be able to fit 2 buffers into video ram) and add some more AGP memory to give compiz enough room for textures.

    The...
  18. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    This is what works with my card.

    amelo@amelo-laptop:~$ lspci | grep VGA

    [all variants] Aironet WPA status

    Hey all,

    What's the status on getting WPA to work on Aironet-series of cards? I've tried to do it myself, and all the posts I find are from last year saying there was a problem with the airo...

    [ubuntu] [SOLVED] Aironet PCMCIA card not detected

    Hey all,

    I already had 8.04 installed (upgraded via internet from 7.10) but I wanted to get a fresh install so I installed from the DVD.

    My aironet pcmcia wifi card isn't being detected...
  22. Re: HOWTO: 3D Acceleration in ATI Mobility Radeon M6 LY (and possibly others)

    I just wanted to say that I was having tons of trouble getting 3D acceleration, but I reinstalled from the new 8.04 release and everything works great with one minor change in the xorg.conf. I have...
