There is always yafaray! Its stable and works well, Although I still prefer LUX (It can be buggy,but when there done it'll be awesome)

I use PSD's In gimp all the time, never had a problem.
AMD is slighlty more linux friendly, but Nvidia rocks.;)
2 hours isn't bad for a render.. i've spent 10 hours rendering High-quality stills on my i7.

they are not going to use wine or port games only creating a client for linux games, but i belive this will encourage development for linux games.

Now I would suggest adjusting lighting to shine slightly more on the logo tone reflectivity donw on purple material. maybe run a smoothing modifier on the purple objects? Change...
No I did not, sorry Blender refused to open any of them.
Personally I would recomend changing the ubuntu logo itself to soild (Ubuntu) orange, and the rest to (canonical)Purple, with a 45%...
I cant wait for Desura, although we must remeber that there not porting games (all the games you'll get from them you can get for linux already).
But It will be great to have a Client any how ;)
Just a thought but, you may want to think about gtk3....this be a nightmare but its reality.
