If I understand correctly you want to run windows software on ubuntu? That's not possible without installing an extra package called wine!

Couldn't change touchpad settings, but solution here did the trick for me.
Everything else is working just fine.
sudo apt-get install acroread
That might do the trick!
I also use ctrl + c and in case of a lock:
sudo rm -rf /var/lib/dpkg/lock
