yeah it needs a ton of ram, I mean it needs 800 megs just to sit there not doing anything.
  3. Re: Vista release postponed yet again, this time to 2007!

Vista should be ok if you have a lot of money for upgrades (new video card more memory) or if you're purchasing a new computer in 2007. Other than that the requirements are just laughable:

  8. Re: The Composite Manager Guide: How to Get Vista-ish Effects in (K)(X)Ubuntu.

I'm a dumbass. I was doing it through an NX session with the moronic assumption that it should work. Note to self xcompmgr and/or transset does not work through freenx.
  9. Re: The Composite Manager Guide: How to Get Vista-ish Effects in (K)(X)Ubuntu.

    Tried that, same issue.
  10. Re: The Composite Manager Guide: How to Get Vista-ish Effects in (K)(X)Ubuntu.

I get "no composite extension" when I try to run xcompmgr. I have an nvidia 5200 with the official drivers from breezy.

    This is my xorg.conf:

    Re: Kernel 2.6.14

Dunno about that. The kernel-of-the-day maintainers for suse have done a great job in allowing users to update their kernels with a simple apt-get command. One of the few things I miss.
