Now Gnome has it's own Ubuntu version (rather than just installing default Ubuntu then putting a Gnome desktop on later) it will be interesting to see what people prefer. I prefer 'Ubuntu Gnome'...
The instructions in the second link work perfectly for me. Software Center no longer opening then closing immediately.
I've had the same problem and I don't want to roll back to Gnome 3.6 so I installed 'gnome-software-manager' via Synaptic and removed Ubuntu Software Center. I can live without it. I don't miss it's...
No luck with a New User. I've tried removing and reinstalling Software Center. Still no luck.
I'll now create a new user and try again. Will report back.
I tried renaming the software-center folder inside the .cache folder but with no success. Software Center seems to start then closes.
Many thanks for that. Until then we can always use Synaptic Package Manager or the 'sudo apt-get install .....' command in Terminal.
Me too. No Software Centre. I have removed and reinstalled it via Synaptic and it still won't work. I'm running Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 with Nautilus 3.8
That's solved this irritating bug. Many thanks!
Can anyone help? I had a quick look then realised I didn't really know what I was doing (or indeed what asset register is). Over to the experts!
Good morning, Is this of any help at all? http://www.downloadplex.com/Windows/Business/Accounting-Finance/mie-fixed-asset-software_417588.html
You burn the Ubuntu 11.10 iso. as an image.
I have tried Ubuntu Gnome Remix but am growing tired of Ubuntu branding colours.
I have been trying to get a Gnome Shell Ubuntu based distro set up for a long while now. I installed Ubuntu 12.10 and stripped out Unity but found I had to change other things to get a more vanilla...
Lubuntu is quicker than Xubuntu and can be made to look as good.
It's worth experimenting with alternative desktop environments on Ubuntu 12.04. I suspect the standard Unity is more 'resource hungry' than Gnome Shell and XFCE. It is certainly a great deal more...
Why bother with Internet Explorer? Even on Windows, people are increasingly opting for Chrome (Chromium in Ubuntu repositories) or Firefox.
STA and B43 drivers seem to conflict. The B43 driver should work fine but if you have installed STA then B43 will be blacklisted.
I've found one way round the problem is to do a fresh install of...
Just to point out that the above is not code to be copied and pasted into Terminal. It is an option in Terminal's menu.
If you have time perhaps you can tell us what you did. This is how people find out how to do things with Ubuntu.
Please Note: If you used your friend's Windows 7 disk to install onto your computer and your computer has a Product Sticker for Windows Vista you will probably not be able to Activate Windows and...
Your computer BIOS settings may need to be changed to alter the boot order. Set the boot order to look for the CD/DVD drive before the Hard Drive. Pressing one of the F keys on startup should bring...
There are numerous posts on Broadcom drivers! Since early in the 10.04 Lucid Lynx cycle, I have never managed to get success with the STA driver and invariably have to install the B43 Firmware...
yankeeDDL, You're right, you can customize your Ubuntu 12.04 to make it 'Unity Free' within minutes probably. I suppose the Gnubuntu version would be for people who know they only want that DE and...
