okay - I found my old notes... I'm positive some of this is not really required but I don't have the time or energy to pare it down... suffice to say that after doing...
Well....
When I click System... Administration... Hardware Drivers I get a dialogue that informs me that the Broadcom STA wireless driver is "activated but not currently in use". (It goes on to...
Just as the title says... I got a Canon PowerShot (A1000 IS) and it's not talking to Ubuntu. (8.04... not upgrading this laptop until/unless I know I won't have any problems...)

I'm not sure where you folks have gotten with this....
I noticed that dvs-slideshow 7.2 was in the standard distribution-ring (universe, maybe?) Not sure how to tell what branch it is, but...
(You know you're getting old when a "What was your first OS" poll doesn't have any of your first 3 OSes included in the options! :)
Sinclair ZX80 (with the 16K expansion... uh.. dongle?)
Apple...
Thanks, I guess I should have posted that little tidbit too!
Silly me - of course this can be made slightly easier for those that aren't comfortable in a terminal window, and/or don't know their way around the command line... instead of worrying about the 'cd'...
There's probably a way to remove the 'recent documents' menu item from the Places menu, but I haven't found it yet. :D
Instead, I offer a way to disable it:
