    [ubuntu] touchpad disable

I installed gpointing-device-settings and it does indeed turn off the touchpad.

Thing is the setting is not sticky. The next time I boot the pad is active again.

    Anyone know how to get...

[all variants] Re: Middle Mouse Scroll Wheel

I have an upgraded 9.04 -> 10.04 with ps2 mouse and Compiz is not activated.

The scroll wheel scrolled as the default action in 9.04, it no longer scrolls in 10.04.

I've read the man pages for...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: no scroll or scroll click after upgrade to 10.04

Not sure what would indicate a fresh install.

    - 5 machines, scroll was the default behavior before upgrade
    - 5 upgraded machines were successful
    - 4 out of 5 the scroll wheel works
    - 4 out of 5...

    Ah...missed that.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Lucid upgrade: Nvidia or Nouveau I don't care...

Just curious. Is this a VGA monitor? Do you happen to have it connected through a KVM switch?

Some KVM's don't connect the I2C comm lines between the monitor and the VGA output. This prevents the...

[other] Re: external HD as backup for Linux, OSX

I see no issues with USB, have never had any issue. Have had poor cable issues with firewire, but given good cables it's fine as well.

I recently ended up with a WD 1TB Book thingy. I whacked the...
  7. [ubuntu_studio] Re: what is a good quality sound card that works 100% with linux?

I would second the firewire option. Though, I'd have to say that getting my Audiofire12's and FP10's working wasn't without effort. Once it worked, though, it was great.

    Has all the new/old...

Re: Is it me or does Firefox simply sucks?

No problems here, with 6 or so Ubuntu installs on various hardware and various version of Ub. Firefox is fine and stable on all, even the one where I compiled the Ub rt kernel...

[ubuntu] LED on USB thumb drive?

Not that this is a problem, but it's something I noticed.

When I put a thumb drive in on a windoze pc the led on the drive comes on. When I unmount it the led goes out.

    Handy to know when the...

    Re: Blender...easy to use?

Blender is easy enough to use...but, it's got tuns of functionality, so it takes some effort to get comfortable.

    Re: Firewire in Mythbuntu 9.10?

Sorry I think it's called plug scan, my bad.

Mine doesn't seem to do uch of anything out of the box. Of course I'm stuck with doing a lot of setup by hand. The install assumes that dhcp is active,...

    Firewire in Mythbuntu 9.10?

    Hi,

I've searched and read a lot, but I have not been able to find out if firewire is enabled by default in the mythbuntu 9.10 iso.

I've tried some of things like plug report, mythprime, etc....

Re: need app for making a network schematic..

YMMV but, I find Inkscape generally better than Dia.
  16. [all variants] Re: Drummer looking to set up a recording studio in the attic. Watcha got?

I'll just add my $.02 here.

I own both the FP10 and the Audiofire 12. (The AF12 is all line level in so it requires mic preamps for use with mics)

    I am satisfied with both.

    As noted getting...
