Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

Just tried Fedora for the first time and the font is definitely too small. That aside I feel surprisingly at home, though.

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

By the way, I'm getting the old style nm-applet, which doesn't fit gnome-shell at all. I take it some of you guys got the new one? How can I do that? I seem to have the latest version in the PPA.

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

Since I guess you're using Epiphany, are you having a problem where flas content isn't shown in Epiphany whereas it's shown in Firefox? Is there a specific package you have to install?

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

One thing I noticed is that GTK2 apps have their old look, different to those that have been updated to GTK3. You would think they would try to make all apps look the same, shouldn't they?

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

Absolutely! Now the only problem is that the wallpaper looks all scrambled until I change it, but that's nothing I can't fix.

I guess now that I can actually start a session, I can use the...

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

    Nope, no desktop at all.

Just did, but it said everything was already up to date. Is there a way that you can ctrl+alt+f1 and tell the system to launch gnome-shell replace in display 0, so I...

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

That's the funny part... it won't even let me start a classic session. I get a pop-up telling me "failed to load session classic-gnome", and only offers me to "close session".

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

I followed this message as a checklist in order to get a working shell, but when I log in I only get the blue wallpaper and nothing else. There's no shell, no nothing. Right clicks do nothing. When...

Re: Gnome3 PPA is getting ready

I managed to boot and log in by following the instructions in the bug report, and then installing the packages gnome-shell and ubuntu-desktop; but I get an empty blue screen. Are there any additional...

I didn't even know Wayland existed until now. Could someone explain the benefits to the end user, as well as the risks it could bring?

[ubuntu] Finding apps after a fresh install

    Hi,

I was introducing Ubuntu to a coworker today, after a lot of complaining about viruses on her part and a few hints on mine. I used a live CD on one of our computers, and guided her through the...

  16. Poll: Re: allmyapps.com an appstore with cool features for Ubuntu Linux

Oh! I also wanted to suggest a couple things about the interface:

  18. Poll: Re: allmyapps.com an appstore with cool features for Ubuntu Linux

Up to yesterday I would have voted for the second option, "it can be useful to some people". Today, since it supports install lists, I've changed to the first: "definitely, I'll be using it myself"....

    Re: Does English sound "crude"?

Not to me. I'm Spanish, which has a syllable-timed rhythm. So stress-based languages like English sound rather musical to me, they sound pretty beautiful actually.

Just out of curiosity: I've been...
