Yep, I'd thought from researching that the hard drive could be on the way out.
I'm thinking if putting a small SSD drive in, but I understand I can't use clonezilla for that, because the new drive...
I'll give that a go mate, thanks. I'm guessing it's not a good idea to run the fsck command from the server directly?
Anyone? I have checked the drive using 'badblocks' but this didn't show any errors.
Would this point to sda1 (the Hd that ubuntu server is running from) having problems?
It was an old drive I've used to build my server. The one with all the media on is a new 2TB drive.

Right. I have edited my .conf file, and created a new folder, but I still get the same error. My conf file now reads:
Where have I gone wrong guys?
I think those lines were in one of the many guides I read.
I'll copy over the one at /usr/share/samba/smb.conf
What modification would i ineed to make.?
Sorry man, I meant I don't have a copy of the original .conf file. However, I'm also not 100% sure how I created it. I was using a guide for Webmin.
Where would I find a fresh .conf file?
Sorry mate, I don't.
I've read soooooo many guides now, I'm really confused.
All I want is for the pc & the 2 xbmc boxes to be able to do anything to the 2 folders.
