Have you ever checked out Super Ubuntu?
It's a bug everyone knows about, all I can suggest is you buy a USB adapter
I just wanted to remind everyone 9.04 comes out April 23rd. That is less than 2 months away.
I have one last thing to say on the subject Automatrix
That is my BIGGEST pet peeve when people say just install Restricted. In 4 words - it did not help. Even when it was the first thing I installed back when I first installed Ubuntu well over a year...
I hate to tell you this but it happens...A LOT!!! I have been on this forum for more than a year and I would swear it happens roughly 60% of the time, (based on all the posts that I have seen). It...
I was want to install an ATI driver that doesn't cause me more problems than it worth.
I had Avast installed, and all I did to remove it was head on over to the Synaptic package manager.
Easy it's called trying to figure out what I needed. I just want to remind those hotshots out there that there is more than one source that tells you what codec does what. I discovered the hard way...
Rolcol is right you can't just start to play any media file in Ubuntu you need codecs. Also I would suggest GStreamer plugins and Medibuntu.
Since I have been through this, I guess I am the best one to help. But I have a couple of questions.
Do you have Medibuntu installed?
Do you have restricted extras installed?
Do have any of...
There is this Hard Drive tool, called Spin Rite it costs a bit. But it is an amazing tool. I personally seen it bring hard drives back from the dead. You may want to give it a try.
Yes this happens..a lot more than whatever is mentioned here (you should check out the Doctor Who forum) so much so the people there reccomend you do not update, but instead do a clean install.
Then why still people still post I can't play this file or that. I just checked and there are at least 3 posts of that nature in the regular section of the forum.
Then there are and explain...
I had a Lexmark printer, and I looked for 6 months for a Linux driver and could not find on period. I finally had to buy a HP printer, as it seems to be the only widely supported printer on Linux.
You have access to an unzipping tool in Add/Remove it's called 7Zip
I know every first time user of Ubuntu goes through this, just check general help or the Absolute Beginner sections and see who many are having trouble playing this file or that...and don't give me...
Oh come on now, just adding restricted drivers doesn't mean everything is now working as it would say in Windows. The issue as I see it is much more complicated than that. When I first installed...
You have to get Real Player to play Real Player files. Last time I checked Real had a deb file you could download. I also saw one in the repository section on the Medibuntu site.
It is also in the Snyaptic Package Manager, you may have to seach for it.
To get more screensavers enter these terminal command
sudo apt-get install xscreensaver
sudo apt-get install xscreensaver-gl xscreensaver-gl-extra
That is the craziest thing I ever heard of, it has been my experiance that those drivers don't work. Sounds like both of you never heard of the HP printer Linux driver which works 100% of the time.

It has been posted already in the bug link, I done it 3 times within the last year, The reason I know it hasn't been fixed, as I said it in my original post someone else reported the same...
With a NEW version just a little over a month a away why can't anyone fix that SD Card bug, where Ubuntu does not even recognize the card even being there. I know they have not fixed it yet as there...
