I too have lost the ability to resume after "upgrading" to 13.04. I am on a desktop machine and resume worked fine in 12.04, and 12.10. I am beginning to suspect something has been changed in this...
You type it into the terminal. Just run Terminal from the dashboard the type the command in at the prompt. It will ask for your password, because of the 'sudo' at the start.
I am on ubuntu 12.04. Even though I added Till's ppa, I still only see version 1.5.3. of cups.
Edit: sorry either I tried to early or I missed it - but I have the update now, and it WORKS! :) ...
Nice idea - running a virtual machine for printing. Thanks.
and yes, I hope the fix comes soon.
Same here, so I'm stuck without printing.
Yes please, I also want to downgrade until they fix this problem.
I am trying desktopnova, a wallpaper changing app. However, even though the demon is running, nothing happens, and even the tray app won't show up.
Can it be made to work, or can anyone suggest a...
No luck.
After adding swat, purging, upgrading, Ubuntu offered my 2 choices of nvidia drivers (different names to before) one free, one proprietary. Neither will work however. The system just...
I already purged nvidia when it failed to boot into graphical mode, and that got me back up as I am now.(edit: I haven't tried reinstalling since - need to try that)
Yes, I need to try the latest...
I had some success! With the new card in place, and no nvidia drivers, I have a Unity desktop (not 2d), which means better graphics (faster too). However, if I install nvidia-current, it will not...
I will try removing the drivers first. Thanks.
I have a machine with a and old nvidia geforce 6150 in it, running the latest prop. drivers, and I can only seem to get Unity 2D running.
I have a Gigabyte Geforce GTS 250 card spare. I tried...
Brilliant.
Thanks for taking the time to explain that. I already had Ubuntu Tweak, but haven't discovered everything it can do yet.
All fixed.
I have looked under properties on the open with tab, but openjdk (or any form of java) doesn't show up as a choice. It is installed, and I am using it, but I have to manually choose open with on the...
I have been using Ubuntu's backup program, scheduled for daily backups. Yesterday, a lot of extra unnecessary stuff got backup up because I was playing around with wine and had a few .wine's saved....
Eventually figured this out. A rule somewhere was making the NX130 permissions owner=root, group=lp.
I guess that makes sense, as it is a printer, AND a scanner. Funny thing is, even though my...
Yep there are three ways to control Windows, fixed positions, placement mode, and fixed viewport, and you can use them in combo. You would use the first and last I think.
Got it working with Compiz CCSM. Thanks heaps.
It would seem that wmctrl manages desktops, and that workspaces are a subdivision of each desktop. So I can move an app to the second desktop, but then it can't be seen anymore in any workspace (as...
Well, I have progress.
It is now recognised if I run as root. In fact I can even
sudo scanimage>test.pnm
and it works.
So, maybe a permissions problem? Does this mean tackling udev...
or just open a terminal and run top
sudo top
For encouragement, I will tell you I am running it on a small netbook ...

I have an Epson NX130 printer/scanner. I downloaded the printer drivers from Epson, and it was autodetected and works perfectly (in 12.04).
However Simplescan detects no scanners. The relevent...
OK, verified. I opened the home folder in Nautilus, right clicked on a text file and opened it in gedit.
I then used Launcher to switch back to Chromium (in a different workspace), then to...
Well, when using the launcher to switch between apps/workspaces, yes. Not the original Window, just the 'child'. I'll try to find another app like Thunderbird that launches a child window and test...
