Hi, I had the same issue, solved with changing the driver for your graphics card. Don't worry, this does not involve no creepy command line stuff ;-)

    Same here.

Seriously, this should be somewhere in a *very* prominent place or FAQ... A lot of people have this problem. It used to work 100% years ago, and now?...

    [ubuntu] Re: Macbook crash

Can you describe what you see exactly? is it a login screen?

In any case no worries, you should -in 99% of cases- be able to boot up from a livedisk and save things to an external disk/ USB key.

[ubuntu] Re: Has Ubuntu replaced OSX as your Macs main OS??

[ubuntu] Re: Has Ubuntu replaced OSX as your Macs main OS??

I'm about to ditch OS X completely. :)

Used to be on a PPC too, proved unworkable to use as a main machine (but it was fun!)

Now on a x86 I guess things have changed. About to find out.

    I...

    Debian New Maintainers' Guide: relevant?

    Hi,

I've been trying to build some stuff, and found out the boring way Ubuntu doesn't come with dev-stuff installed as default.
Fair enough, you won't hear me complain, because I love the fact...

    Re: breezy-extras on powerpc

Yes, Coincidentally I checked it out, too, and the 'folders' are empty. They do exist though, but do not contain a 'table of contents' file, which probably throws the error... One day, tuff will...
  11. Re: How to use your laptop as an internet access point for a desktop

Weird... It should do that automatically during startup... Coincidentally, I rebooted my wireless iBook, for the kernel-update, and while doing that, I checked how mine behaved... I had automatic...
  12. Re: How to use your laptop as an internet access point for a desktop

That's puzzling.... You have to run that on the wired one?

I don't remember I have to do that, but it's been more than two weeks since I rebooted, though I sometimes close (put to sleep) my iBook...

  15. Re: How to use your laptop as an internet access point for a desktop

    You're welcome.
but come to think of it... i mainly followed the 'simple' approach posted on the Firestarter site, then checked your info when things didn't work directly.
    BTW, this works...
  16. Re: How to use your laptop as an internet access point for a desktop

    Works for me.

I used to do it the quick and dirty way, as laid out on the Firestarter website : http://www.fs-security.com/docs/connection-sharing.php i.e.: w/o the resolv.conf tweak, because I...
