Just back up what you want to keep off the 40gb drive to a dvd or a usb drive. Do a clean install of windows 7 on your new drive. Then just copy your saved data over to your new windows 7 drive....

I agree with cuddles. I have a 160gb drive, it shows 128gb free. I have all the softeware I use loaded plus themes and other things. So you should have no problems with 150gb allocated for Unbuntu.
