    I am still reading up a little but I will probably set the boot device to sda during install. It will likely be overridden. If it asks to rewrite anything related to boot, I will negate it.

    Data will be backed up. In the old days sometimes some people said "as long as you don't format the wrong partition we can revive your system". But I am not sure it is correct.
