I'm on 1.11.3 conky for the most part (although MX19 and Xubuntu 20.04 both have 1.10.8 for the moment). This is mainly because Paramvir packaged up conky-cairo in the AUR (most of the rest of...
Well - I just installed Xubuntu 20.04, and I've had mixed results so far. The conky that was posted above appears to work - but I haven't tried most of mine yet :) I'll get back to you on that...
Still not sure what exactly the problem is - but I will make the 2020 version workable on that resolution. I can run that resolution easily enough, so I'll give it a shot. Do you want more from...
Well - known good versions are 1.10.8 (which was in 18.04, and in MX-19 for that matter) and 1.11.3 is the latest that still works right (it is up to 1.11.5 at least), but I have no idea at this...
Not entirely sure which problem remains... from what I can see on the screenshot, you have some positioning 'slippage' and the CPU/GPU temps are not picked up. Is this all that remains a problem?...
Did you know that some of the questions here are posted by people who know even less than I do? Not the case here...
Sorry... couldn't help you

You might want to look at SimpleScreenRecorder - it can be set up to respond to a 'hot key', using pre-configured options. I suspect there are more choices, but that's the only one I've used.

I am not an expert on this situation, but I do know that I wouldn't attempt to answer without more information. Such as - is the machine you wish to do this on UEFI capable? Was the Kubuntu install...
I just looked at the man page, and I'm not surprised! I couldn't find anything there either...
I tend to just find out about the things I need it to do, and I use the "I wish it did this" method...
Not sure what you're looking for, but the convert that I use (Imagemagick) doesn't require BOTH sides of the sizing command. In fact it is perfectly happy with a percentage. As an example:

I'm a bit of the old-school type as well - which means that along with the fact that they have never (yet) failed me I have USB2.0 externals. 2 of them are Seagate 2Tb 'Expansion Desk' drives, from...
I also get the screenshot, usually with PrintScreen (or CTRL-PrtScrn for selected area shots) and then resize afterwards. With ImageMagick all I need to do to shrink file size appropriately (which...
After a symlink (soft link) is created, only a redirect exists by that name in the original location. All file interactions actually occur in the new destination location.
For example, I ran with...

I'm not sure that an answer here would help directly, as your particular machine/setup may differ too much. I would just try a couple of alternatives in 'Live' mode to see how they handle the...
Playing here too - just thought I should know what time people are doing things at :)
Typical "while working" setup here.

I know what you mean - moved to 4k monitor and EVERYTHING had to be resized, and most of them rethought (more room = more goodies on show!) OF course - you can never have too much room...
Actually...
Looking good - again! What I worry about (a bit) is what Wayland will do to conky - or whether it will be addressed by the conky devs. However, in the meantime we just keep tweaking what works now!
...
No expertise here - but is there any chance that wayland crept into use on your system? You could check the 'cog' at your next login to be sure - or
echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE
should tell you....
IT seems kind of quiet around here, so I'll note that How to VinDSL thread has a little more going on than here lately. In particular, #2810 has a new version of what's posted here - a standalone...
I just thought I'd add a little 'side' project in here now. I created a setup that displays information from Audacious while it is running - including playlist position, Year of album, Track no.,...
I know of one great time-eater (I won't say time-waster). Have you set up a conky on your system yet? :) There is more than enough in the way of options to keep you busy for good long time - and you...
There are other ways to get this functionality as well. I have Samba enabled on my systems, and an app called ES File Explorer (pro) (there are others, but this seems quickest) on Android devices can...
Should have thrown in an update there too. Thrashed around a while, but found a way to add in the CPU Temperature bar I mentioned a while back. Here is a screenie to show the result
