I should point out that one system (Nvidia Quadro FX 570) is fine with all the updates, the 195.36.24
My other system, Nvidia Quadro 140, is having massive issues.
I've rolled the 140 back to...
I did this originally and I got some massive issues with my nvidia Quadro 140, basically I can see GDM fine, but when I get to the desktop I can only see the top left of the screen
I've been trying all morning to update from a working 9.10 to 10.04 and unfortunately every time I try it blocks me.
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade:
E:Unable to...
My netbook uses a "Venus" webcam, which used to work perfectly fine in Ubuntu 9.04, however in 9.10 I just get black and white video, any ideas on what I can do?
There appears to have been a regression in Ubuntu Karmic, currently trying to work out why but I can't get a colour webcam. That's a seperate thread though so please make a new one if you want to.
I'm not sure with the Webcam, I am trying to get the spare LED to light for mine when it's on, but when I pressed FN+F1 it did come on, you may need to restart the application which you want to use...
Sorry about that I didn't get the email alerts for some reason! What was the problem?
You're missing a space, if you're in Ubuntu copy and paste the following line:
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf
Which step? When you try to edit? Could you copy + paste the line you're having issues with? Thanks!
scratch that, the eeePC model does not enable the Headphone socket.
Use model=samsung-nc10 instead
Sorry!
First off, thanks for the awesome guide.
Unfortunately I've checked every step and can't get the list of shares from the server.
I can go direct (smb://ip/share) but that's only good if I know...
Anyone with sound issues look in the other thread I made:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1243256
I found the issue.
So I found how to resolve this at last!
edit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
and add:
options snd-hda-intel model=eeepc-p701
I received a Virgin Media Freedom netbook a few weeks ago, try as I might I cannot get the speakers to be louder then a whisper. I've gone through the sound support thread.
Headphones are fine....
I'm going to raise a new thread for it. Also, I recommend NOT plugging the wireless dongle into the LEFT USB port, you get noise from the speakers (same as if you were getting a mobile call).
Fixed now, I recompiled and rebooted and it worked. Very odd.
Certainly, connect via a cable (or download the package) and run
sudo aptitude install linux-backports-modules-jaunty
Reboot, jobs done, wireless will always be off on boot and takes upto 10s...
So I found the solution by installing the backports package.
So I got myself one of the free Virgin Media Freedom Netbooks, it boots by default with Wireless Off (no there's no way to change this) and when I had Windows XP and Moblin V2 on the FN+F2...
Hi there, I followed the instructions to the letter but the only response I get when using the shortcuts is to get a flicker on whatever window I'm currently using, there's no changet to either conky...
The problem is that I can't find anywhere that documents the DBUS interface :(
Firstly, let me say a big thankyou for this! It makes my life far easier at work when moving between my desk and our test floor.
I was wondering if there's some way to link this into emesene (or...
