Hi all,
I'm (hopefully) soon going to get a physics PhD, and I'm considering my career options as I've decided to leave my current field of study. I realised that while most of my time in last few...
After following another link trail, it looks as if the latest amd drivers are not compatible with the intel drivers that come with raring, xserver-xorg-video-intel 2.2.21. The last known to work seem...
So if I try to start the discrete (AMD) GPU
sudo amdconfig --px-dgpu
it (unity/X?) dies and I get kicked into the 'start in low graphics mode' options.
Putting integrated back on and...
So turned the amd drivers on exclusively using the control centre, but back to low graphics mode.
Putting back onto intel GPU for a root around.
OMG! So that forum yielded some surprising results.
So I tried two things, sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-glx --reinstall which I suspect did nothing really.
But also
sudo amdconfig...
Bump.
Raring is so smooth, I'd love to actually run it.
Mega Bump!
I attempted to replicate the problem and add some more info. I used a rather scattergun approach to grabbing log files attached from various points in the install.
If anyone finds...
I've attempted to install the Amd Catalyst 13.4 and the associated drivers, using instructions here...
So running
sudo aticonfig --initial
fixed the problem.
Earlier I found when I turned my computer on it kept trying to start in low graphics mode, and I couldn't get it to actually start (sorry, no particularly useful info on why). I did notice a disk...
Disabling catalyst AI worked. Cheers.
So somehow I've borked my ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit) system. I think somehow I uninstalled the wrong package last time I was logged in, and somehow ubuntu-desktop/unity got messed up.
Currently booted...
Looks fine to me, no errors or warnings. File attached.
Equally strange on different resolutions, in window mode, and on the start screen.
I've got a radeon card, not NVidea (no problem with other games, can just about run skyrim).
I've attached a screenshot of the first thing I see when trying to play sword and sworcery. Installed via the software centre (from HIBV :) ). The game doesn't lag or crash, the graphics don't...
Reset doesn't change the behaviour.
Reboot affects nothing.
Can I ask what version of unity-lens-files is installed?
When I do zeitgeist-daemon --replace I get a series of errors of the form
** (zeitgeist-datahub:3061): WARNING **: recent-manager-provider.vala:133: Desktop file for...
I don't get that behaviour, only recently opened videos are shown. Also searching for these doesn't seem to work very well. Of six files I just opened with file name of the format "The Wire *", they...
Not sure I follow what you're saying here, do you find all video files are searchable or only opened ones? Like you said before it currently only shows activity in zeitgeist (whatever 'activity'...
So I stumlbed across a bug report from a while ago which seems suggest that a fix has already been released for zeitgeist a long time ago
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/646724
...
What counts as zeitgeist activity? It it just opening files, is downloading a moving them meant to be logged?
Can that really be true for the video lens?
It's the videos that I haven't already watched that are interesting to see. I thought the point was to reduce searching around for documents; if I have...
Perhaps I've mis-understood how the lenses are meant to work, but I find that local files or folders never show up in any of the lenses unless I've previously opened them. This is true for the file...
I managed to get my graphics card working by installing the drivers from amd manually.
Instructions here.
I didn't have any problems, and the instructions were easy to follow.
