    Just installed some updates today (didn't pay attention to what updates they were) but after that the error disappeared so I was able to successfully upgrade to 10.10 :)

    Well, he'd already gotten a reply to his question. gnote is just like tomboy, looks and functions exacly the same but it's written in c++ and much lighter :)

    What worked for me was to boot into an older kernel, then stopping gdm


    ctlr+alt+f1

    sudo stop gdm

    then I just removed xorg.conf

    I enabled Sync to VBlank for everything I could in nvidia-settings.

    But I couldn't do anything under Display settings, it just asked me to use the nvidia tool.

    Just tried upgrading my x264 and now I'm getting this error:

    /usr/local/bin/mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libx264.so.67: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    My asus m51sn has a 2.4ghz core duo 2, 250gb hdd, 3gb ram and a 512mb nvidia 9500m GS....

    It's not that expensive and quite a bang for the buck.
