Oh thank god. Unity and I just don't get along. The only reason I switched from Ubuntu early this summer was because I wanted to try Gnome 3. It's pretty nice, but I like something that's more...
Will 11.10 have Unity or Gnome 3 or something else?
Just a simple question. Right now I'm running 11.04 but I don't use unity I use gnome classic. I've used Gnome3 in a Fedora installment before I...
Okay, but why? I'm just curious.
I will just try all 3. Mine as well be on the safe side. But I'll also copy some files onto another medium.
Thanks for the quick, and detailed response(s)!
Okay, so I have a screwy hard drive and reports are showing that it's failing. Is there a program or something that will make .iso file of all my files on the Ubuntu partition, or is my best bet just...
Banned because I'm eating pizza and I enjoy it
Yes, it is because the .iso is mounted virtually. I beleive their is a way to unmount at the top, but I haven't used VB in a while and I don't have it anymore
If your using XP for games and on;y some applications. I would suggest 10gb. Dynamically Expanding is the best choice.
It is a pretty simple process. Once you get Virtual Box, you make the virtual hard drive, then you boot it with the CD of XP in your tray or whatever and install it like you would a real computer.
Well it's kinda been a while. So... Can someone please help me out?
Once again. bump
Okay, I downloaded the file, so I know what to do.
1.) Re-download the whole file. Make sure it goes to your downloads folder.
2.) Open Terminal
3.)
cd Downloads
4.)
unzip...
Okay so if you can, do a clean install. That will help alot. Now get the file that jd2012 told you about. In the terminal ( Applications > Accesories >Terminal) type
unzip <filename here>.zip ...
I'm not sure if this will work in the IDE your using, but it worked in Code::Blocks. You need g++ to get this,
sudo apt-get install g++
That might work. If not I might know something else, but...
Could you please post the output of
sudo lspci? That would help us identify your wireless card.
Not to be impatient, but bump
Okay, so I have been using Ubuntu since September of last year (2010) I haven't realized it, but my mic isn't working. I'm am not entirely sure what type of mic I have, but the output of "lspci" are...
Just a suggestion here. You said that it is running Ubuntu 8.04. That version is no longer supported, so I STRONGLY suggest you upgrade. The process is pretty straight forward, but if you need any...
As for why the OS is faster, that would be because... I'm not sure. But the way I figure it, why question it. I have Ubuntu on a year 2000, 256 RAM, 20GB Hard Drive computer and it runs faster than...
Banned because I'm a loser ):P
To be honest, I really don't know. I should actually know more about it, but I don't. You would have to ask someone else in these forums.
Whoops. I completely forgot about that. Swap is a partition that Linux uses (Although, to be honest I have no clue why.) It is supposed to be 2.5 times your RAM, so for you that would be 10GB. Like I...
I just read your new post, and thats exactly what I was talking about. 45 on Windows will fill up quickly, and I have 15GB for Linux and I am quite worried that it is not going to be enough because I...
