I have a printer shared with Samba, but a windows machine can't connect to it.
The disk shares work fine.

Enter root's password:
WORKGROUP...
The case is SOLVED.
Note that turboruuvi and turboscrew are the same guy (some problems with account), so now that it's sorted out (I'm turboscrew again), I can't edit stuff I wrote as turboruuvi...
Funny, mini.iso is really left mounted in the installation whereas deskop install image is not.

I didn't have to...
I have Canon Pixma MP140 shared via Samba/Cups.
I was paying bills with another machine running Windows Vista.
After paying I printed out the receipts.
First one - OK.
Second one - OK....
The printer is shared via Samba, so I guess Cups...
Thanks. I'll try that.
This: https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa

Is there a new working version to replace (I guess) CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.9? (This version acts up as you described.)
Or which would be the earlier still working version?
Or maybe it would be better...
Aha: I check with the EasyBCD and the upgrading only messed up the linux entry in the BCD. I deleted the old entry (it pointed into the Vista partition) and created a new entry.

When I updated my oneiric (to Precise), the update messed up the linux boot altogether.

Aha, the conrol center is not installed by default.
Thanks!
Is something in the thinking changed?
The new releases seem to be getting harder and harder to use.
They LOOK simple, but the simplicity seems to have been achieved
by hiding almost everything...
I installed Lubuntu 11.10, but can't find my way around.
At first I'd like to find power control and swat.
Also, how can I configure the desktop itself?

Thanks for the tip.
In the brasero on my Ubuntu, there was no such option.
I could burn data and music CDs and DVDs and even burn
ISO-images, but there...
Also, runnin windows tends to use a cluster at the end of partition. That makes the shrinking impossible.

How do you erase a CD/DVD RW with Brasero - or do you?
Thanks again.
Sorry, sorry, sorry... I've been wasting everyone's time.
Stupid me!
The update was fine. It was just that the alternate install installed Grub.
What was needed, was adding a new Grub2 entry in...
Thanks, I'll try.
I just wonder if that will be in front of me again after the next
kernel update.
The thin is: Vista-boot works. It boots windows and it starts Grub2 on the Linux root

What doesn't work is the Grub2 itself. I doesn't find the...
I doubt that.
I have had my share of windows problems such that boot CDs haven't been able to boot the windows. That's why I keep the most important data on a specific partition on a certain HD...
