    Ubuntu comes with a VNC server preinstalled... Did you try that one?
    It's called "Remote Desktop" in the menu, if I recall correctly...

    No, OpenVPN isn't an option for me; iOS allows for PPTP, L2TP, and IPSec VPN connections. OpenVPN uses some sort of SSL authentication. An OpenVPN client for iOS isn't a viable solution for me..
