  1. [SOLVED] Re: Adjusted input sound volume and Maverick lost the plot...

    No, it doesn't. But I discovered a way to invoke the system monitor, and was able to use this prog to end the session relatively gracefully. Then tried to reproduce this aberrent behaviour but...
  2. [SOLVED] Re: Adjusted input sound volume and Maverick lost the plot...

    Cheers - nothing whatsoever appeared to happen though :( . (I tried both gconftool and gconftool-2 but did not dare try the --shutdown option...) Interestingly(?), ALT+(FN+)F2 fails to bring up the...
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Adjusted input sound volume and Maverick lost the plot...

    :confused:

    Wow, I clearly need to proofread my posts here more fully; I couldn't care less about the webcam and merely mentioned it for the sake of background info. My problem revolves around my...
  4. [SOLVED] Adjusted input sound volume and Maverick lost the plot...

    Hi friends

    I'm running Maverick on an HP dv6 laptop. I tried recording a video via VLC with the machine's 'TrueVision' webcam. The result seemed to lack audio, so I had a look in preferences >...
  5. Re: Unable to access #defines from #included header!

    All's well now thx Arndt - see my last (edited) post :-)
  6. Re: Unable to access #defines from #included header!

    Arndt - ULLONG_MAX is replaced by that very thing on my sys too!

    Edit: Gah - problem solved. Using that second command you suggested dwhitney67 resulted in a.out, which force-of-habit saw me...
  7. Re: Unable to access #defines from #included header!

    Whoops - rereading the page I linked, that is indeed the number I should expect dwhitney67 :-)
  8. Re: Unable to access #defines from #included header!

    Ahh that's the problem! For some reason, I was under the impression I had to force C89 compliance, not C99!

    Alas, the value reported is kind of small. I'm running an x86 OS - would this be why?...
  9. Unable to access #defines from #included header!

    Greetings

    When I try to 'gcc' (using U9.04) the following short file

    -------------------------------------
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <limits.h>

    int main()
    {
  10. Re: C headers: why #define FOO_BAR __FOO_BAR__?

    Aww now I feel stupid soltanis :-)

    Thanks for that - I needed to add a precision modifier tho' (to see anything but 0.000000)!
  11. Re: C headers: why #define FOO_BAR __FOO_BAR__?

    Thanks Soltanis - it did occur to me to check for any includes in float.h but there are none! So I'm stumped!

    I did try a grep in /usr/lib and found that __FLT_EPSILON__ is defined in...
  12. C headers: why #define FOO_BAR __FOO_BAR__?

    I'm trying to determine the value of the constant FLT_EPSILON on my system but in float.h all I see is

    "#define FLT_EPSILON __FLT_EPSILON__"

    In fact every constant in this header seems to...
  13. Poll: Re: Share with the community your gutsy install/upgrade experience

    I installed on a virtual machine made by VMWare Server 1.0.4 running under Vista <ducks>. Love the new wallpaper but I have no mouse pointer and my two side-by-side monitors now behave like the right...
