    [ubuntu] Re: Dropbox code

    A update to dropbox is on the way. But that doesn't indicate that they've fixed the icon mess.

    [ubuntu] Re: Chrome browser doing weird things

    Most of the Chromium devs are Google employees, AFAICT.

    Chromium is not "basically the same as Chrome" because flash is missing in the former. As it stands, it's easier to install Google Chrome...

    [ubuntu] Re: Dropbox code

    Or just run pgrep dropbox from the terminal.
    The update to the qt5 version does display the icon for me "correctly" without the white surrounding box but it's not the icon of my icon theme. Dropbox...
  4. [SOLVED] Re: Xubuntu 14.04: Remove volume indicator and config Firefox window

    There should be something like Notifications in your settings (or preferences) panel. The corresponding .desktop file is /usr/share/applications/xfce4-notifyd-config.desktop. If you want to have even...

    [ubuntu] Re: Apparmor skipping firefox

    I used
    sudo aa-enforce /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.firefoxI don't know if that's still applicable. The reasoning, at least in the past, for having to enable Apparmor for Firefox and not have it on by...
  8. [SOLVED] Re: Xubuntu 14.04: Remove volume indicator and config Firefox window

    Glad you solved the Firefox issue with ajgreeny's help. On my system which has Openbox as the window manager, I can use what I described:

    [ubuntu] Re: Default application shenanigans

    I notice that you provided more detail there :)

    Anyway, from the cloned post, now that you've explained a bit that wasn't clear to me from the first post I'm using the Openbox session of Lubuntu...

    Re: Why is Lubuntu faster than Ubuntu?

    Well, the stripped down part can be defined but the other two are subjective :)

    Re: Why is Lubuntu faster than Ubuntu?

    I remember people having problems with Lubuntu's Software Center. Looks like the "workflow" wasn't suitable.

    Re: Why is Lubuntu faster than Ubuntu?

    I wonder if Lubuntu couldn't be even lighter/faster. I don't know to what extent icon-bloat can slow things down but many of the Lubuntu Box theme icons are bloated, IMO. They're svg and could be...
  16. [SOLVED] Re: Xubuntu 14.04: Remove volume indicator and config Firefox window

    I suspect you'll need to do that through your window manager settings. Do you see something like Un/Decorate when you press Alt+spacebar?

    Re: Why is Lubuntu faster than Ubuntu?

    The first time I logged into an Openbox session I panicked and rebooted. It was several months later that I dared to get into the water again, but much better prepared :)

    I liked Bodhi's approach...
  18. [SOLVED] Re: How to modify a theme without the Theme Configurator?

    My gtkrc has this:

    XfdesktopIconView::label-alpha = 0
    XfdesktopIconView::selected-label-alpha = 0
    XfdesktopIconView::tooltip-size = 32...
  19. Re: Dropbox icon missing in top panel (Xubuntu 14.04)

    No point ranting here in a support forum ;)

    If you're a pro user, there should be Dropbox-run support. I'm grateful that Dropbox provides a Linux desktop solution unlike Google and I'm sure...
  20. Re: Dropbox icon missing in top panel (Xubuntu 14.04)

    What's your Dropbox version? There are reports of icons looking ugly in Dropbox 3.0.3 and otherwise "misbehaving". Maybe an update will fix things.

    Re: Why is Lubuntu faster than Ubuntu?

    That's logical. While I'm not in a position to compare machines or distros, I got the feeling that the Openbox box session starts faster than a Lubuntu session but after that there isn't much...

    @DuckHook, I suspect there may not be much of a difference but have you compared a Lubuntu session with an Openbox session?
