Re: Is using the command line a dying art?

i disagree. it is very difficult to setup a GUI. i use webmin for basic management tasks on my server, and i find it slow and it was very difficult to get running properly. while when it's running...

    Re: xmarks replacement?

thanks lovinglinux, but i think i might just go for a home-based FTP/xmarks setup because none of the alternatives are doing it for me.

I might switch to google bookmarks, but i have to test that...

Re: Utility to log Ubuntu/Windows usage

    echo Ubuntu...

Re: Utility to log Ubuntu/Windows usage

Not exactly a techincal fix, but a post-it and a pen would work :)

In all seriousness though, there probably isn't a solution. GRUB resides in a very small section of your HDD called the MBR...

  20. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to print from remote PC to server via SAMBA

  21. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to print from remote PC to server via SAMBA

sounds like an access denied error (e.g. one user allowed to print, other users not). Try also firewall, you say the information isn't getting through.
  22. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to print from remote PC to server via SAMBA

the printer is attached to a linux box, the clients are all windows (at least the ones having issues, the ubuntu clients connect fine)

    i do online administration already.
