Oh, well it is working great now! I took out the RAM sticks on at a time, and it turns out that the 256MB Samsung was causing all the problems (except I did have to updated the sound card driver)....

Yesterday after installing Windows XP with my disk, upgrading it to SP2, it restarted ok......
Well, I gave up and put Windows XP on it :(
The only time it froze with XP on it was during the installation at 19 minutes, but a reboot fixed it.
