We fixed this a couple of hours ago. Can you try again?
Yes, all of the PowerPC binaries are now fully published.
Fixed versions of all broken applications are now on archive.ubuntu.com, except for sparc and armel which are still missing a few.
If you have further problems while fully upgraded, please file...
See the sticky thread -- the last updates fixing this will be on the main mirror in half an hour, except for those few users on sparc or armel who will have to wait a while longer.
That's because those are the critical ones which broke the desktop. Other applications which are currently rebuilding are Empathy, Evolution, gedit, GNOME Disk Utility, Rhythmbox and Totem. They will...
The critical updates (gnome-panel and nautilus, both version 1:2.29.92.1-0ubuntu3) are now on archive.ubuntu.com for i386 and amd64. Other architectures will have to wait for an hour or two more, as...
This is caused by the bug mentioned in the sticky. Do not log out or reboot now -- it will be more broken. Core fixes will be available in half an hour, but Evolution may remain missing for a few...
See the sticky thread about this for more information.
Fixed core packages will be available from the primary mirror in around half an hour.
See the sticky thread -- we've organised a fix, and it should be available within an hour.
The important i386 and amd64 updates are built, and should be available on the main archive mirror in around an hour. Some applications will remain broken afterwards, but the desktop itself should...
See the sticky. We're working on a fix right now.
We're working on fixing this right now. We expect that the main mirror will have the critical fixes in around two hours, but only time will tell, and some applications may need further fixes...
What benefit does selecting more than one application at once give if it doesn't ask you for authentication for each one?
It isn't great, but 'double-click application, click install' isn't...
So, from reading other comments it seems that the big problem is the reauthentication each time? If that went away, would your objections cease?
It does queue. If you click the Install button on one application while the other is still installing, the new one will be added to the queue to be automatically installed afterwards.
In the old...
Why is it a problem that you can only select to install one at a time? It will queue up subsequent installations, so it is, if anything, more functional than the old one.
"being phased out" is the important bit -- it is not yet complete. See the wiki page for the latest status.
This was a bug, fixed in Ubiquity 2.0.4. 2.0.4 is currently waiting in the Karmic queue for release manager approval.
They probably don't have any timeframe - there is little incentive to not use AWS, and it's much easier to have Amazon manage the physical servers.
As above. You'd really have to ask...
I don't think you quite understand how Amazon's EC2 and S3 work. Anybody can use them to run their applications, or store their data. They're just network services which do pretty raw stuff - EC2...
Parts of Ubuntu One are not proprietary.
The Canonical Online Services team was well aware that the server code would remain proprietary.
No, that's the only time it's illegal. It can feel like a slap in the face in many more situations.
The software carries the Ubuntu brand.
No, Canonical kept this very quiet until the public release. I knew the project existed, but only under its codename Ubunet, and didn't know exactly what it did. Most non-Canonical developers...
